About the Photo-Monk Project

Welcome to the Photo-Monk Project. This is more than just a photographic portfolio, it is an exploration of the moment, a study of Zen and an ongoing experiment in human kindness.

I view my outings as meditations and my camera as a Zen tool. Looking through the lens I am in the moment, there is no past, no future, only light and shadow, only subject and composition. It is the absolute perfected state of mind. It is the Dharma in action all the greatest truths rolled up into a single moment. It is the moment! I do not edit any of me images, any effects or color play is done in the camera itself before I even snap a shot. I even shoot in JPG to maintain the feeling of working with film, once its shot, it is shot.

Keeping with this spirit all prints on this site are sold once and then removed to keep the site fresh and in the moment. So if you find a moment you like you may want to grab it. Like a true wondering monk, I live off of what I am able to receive through my art. My camera is my Alms bowl.

Next phase of the Photo-Monk Project is about to begin. I will be creating photo-books for humanitarian organizations and giving all the profits of the books to them, living off of the prints alone. I am a true believer in philanthropic art. Using art to educate, enlighten and support each other. It is in this spirit that I offer this humble body of work.

Enjoy, thanks for stopping by!
